From $266 to $54.25 in a matter of hours. An 80% fall puts the dramatic crash of the dot-com bubble at the beginning of the century to shame. Even Cypriot banking customers were recently allowed to keep more of their deposits. And this is the “currency” that is supposed to compete and replace fiat currencies, like the US dollar and the Euro, to create a more stable and trust worthy financial system.
Das ist irgendwie der beste und sinnvollste Artikel über Köln das ich bis jetzt gesehen habe. Eine sehr gute Beschreibung wie die Stadt “funktioniert”
Recently i had to contact iTunes Support because i wasn’t able to purchase a In-App Add-on for an App called Groundwire. I have an iTunes US account since 2008 even though i haven’t lived in the US since 2004, but because of better content and availability i decided to do so. It has obviously a real address and phone number. I always paid for content with iTunes credit aka. Gift Cards, and never had any kind of trouble. Not even buying iTunes Match, which is a yearly renewable membership.
It was a nightmare to have this problems, because IP-based my request was sent to Apple-emea Support and got response from one of the support employee responsible for the EMEA-region. Needless to say the girl wasn’t a bit helpful. She just replied to me that i wasn’t allowed to buy content from the US iTunes Store. Well i bought the App, and one In-app purchase, plus 3 more apps after this problem, i have real name, address and phone number. I also changed payment method and put a US Credit Card. Why can’t i buy this Add-on? She replied again, i can’t give you further information. Well great, you are supposed to be customer support? Guess what, you’re doing it WRONG!!!
Then i thought to contact iTunes Support but in the US, so just switched my VPN to have an US IP so my Ticket would be sent to the right iTunes Store US customer support people, and not to the off-shore curry gang.
Quite shocking, i never got an answer from them. So i decided to try my luck calling Support. FAIL iTunes Support doesn’t have a phone number. I called Apple Support, the guy was really nice, tried to help me but failed, because he said that he doesn’t have access to that kind of information regarding iTunes accounts. He forwarded my call to AppleCare support, also nice and help oriented, but he also failed.
I was getting pissed off, because nobody seemed to care, and i still wasn’t able to buy this add-on i really needed, it’s for ZRTP encrypted calls, and that’s for my work. So i was unable to communicate with my business partner thru a secure line. And all because iTunes people seem to have a different standard than Apple for Customer Support!
So then i decided to call Apple Inc. I tried my luck, explained my problem and got forwarded to the “right department”. Well, Mr. Right Guy was not helpful nor did he understood my problem, even after i explained him 20 times that the iTunes account was a US account, he just heard that i was calling from Germany at the moment, mambo jumbo started to come out of his mouth. At the moment i imagined the guy probably looked like the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. Told me to change my payment method from an US CC to a German one because i was trying to buy the Add-On from Germany, even after i told him that my account was US, and in order to do that, i’d need to change the country from the account. I’m sitting right now in Germany, account is US, this was about the Gazillionth time i told him that. Well he probably got pissed off and hung up. Customer service? Bitch please, i’ve seen nicer people working cleaning toilets!
I realized that it was going to be impossible to solve the problem, and after spending 18 dollars in an app that worked half-ways, i decided to try to buy everything again, but from the German as good as unused App Store account i’ve had for almost 3 years. I bought the App, tried to buy the Add-on and Oh Sweet Mother of God, it didn’t work!!! I was already in touch with the App developer, but they checked and tried everything and told me it was definitely a problem with iTunes.
So i decided to try my luck with the less oriented customer service people I’ve ever seen: The Germans. Got to the apple.com/de website searched for iTunes support, filled in everything, explained my problem just like i did the every time. 3 times to EMEA, 4 times to the US support. After less than 12 hours a guy named Tobias from iTunes Customer Support answered me, telling me he had to make some adjustments to my account, and that i should be able to buy the Add-on in 30 minutes. I was extremely shocked. So i thought, why not ask this nice guy, what the problem is with my US account, so i replied to the email he sent me with the first good news, telling him i was having the same problem with a second iTunes account, also told him it was a US one. I was sort of expecting a negative answer, something like, Contact the US iTunes Support i can’t give you any further information or something like that, just like iTunes EMEA Support gave me that stupid unhelpful and retarded answer. Same day in the afternoon i get an email from Tobias telling me that my account should be now OK, to wait 30 minutes before buying something. I couldn’t believe it. I thanked Tobias for being so helpful. He even replied that email and thanked me for the kind words, and wished me a nice weekend.
I couldn’t believe what i was reading. After all this sending emails and calling, i really couldn’t understand how the German iTunes Customer Support fixed my 2 accounts in less than 2 days, with just 2 emails. I’m always mocking and teasing about how awful customer service in Germany is, but i have to say this time they Pwned it!
This guy Tobias Rohde from iTunes Store Customer Support really nailed it. This country and every Co. need people like him in their Customer Service Departments. Service oriented people. Not just someone answering questions and complains, without offering any help or at least try.
Until lately i didn’t know how scary and unsafe apps millions across the world use are, and have found really scary stuff. I guess there are some apps or ways to communicate worse than other, but Whatsapp is the worse you could ever use. Well and Facebook has a lot of issues, with its 1 billion users, they have a lot of info that can be sold. Let’s wait until everybody get Graph Search. The biggest problem is that people don’t care or know how important is to keep info private. And here i come to find the stupidity from people at least here in Germany that complain about privacy yet use this kind of apps. At least i was sort of aware and concerned that things you share on Facebook and Twitter are public, but somehow this video showed me that anything you do is already too much! And the Almighty EU either don’t care, know or probably even profit from such kind of apps. I would like to see what kind of encryption if any Viber, Line, Facebook Messenger, Skype offer. How they store the info on their servers and how long?
At least people in the EU worry a bit about this things, even if they don’t take proper actions. In Mexico, where i lived most of my life, and have a lot of friends and acquaintances, i never heard or noticed that any single one of them cared about this kind of issues.
Start caring about what you share and how you communicate online, it might be dangerous. Let me enlighten you. This is truly mind-blowing stuff.
I don’t understand how can this still happen in 2013.
It’s truly incredible how Networks across Europe, and specifically in Germany abuse with stupid policies and as good as no other choice for the customer with the price/volume data you become on a cell contract. Of course there are 4 big companies and they probably pact the prices.
I truly have no idea how it works, but what i know is that it’s an ambush, and they rip you off!
The EU of course protects them because they’re basically the same Cartel. Control the media and communications and you have already won.
It’s sad and also very disturbing to see this situation in this so called first world!
Overpriced services with no customer service and no intention to bond with the customers!
I searched a lot just to find that for us on-the-go Data consuming junkies is just one possibility.
It is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) it is the only company that offers 3GB for an affordable price.
About 30 euros with 120 talk minutes.
Otherwise your stuck with 200-500 MB for the same price or even more.
The hook is that the others offer stupid flats that really no one need. SMS, MMS? Seriously?
Does somebody still use those?
Unlimited landlines? in 3 years that i’ve lived here, i only know 1 guy besides me, and i don’t even have a phone, that has a stupid landline.
Flat to the same network? A lit bit hard, because everybody uses different networks depending on their necessities. Prices are unreal, flat calling all networks 10 euros or something like that, but a bit of Data and boooooom you’re already at 35 easily and it gets up tp 90 for 3 GB.
Another advantage of Congstar is that T-Mo is the only network in Germany that supports LTE for iPhone, and even if not officialy with them, they do, because they use 100% the T-Mo network. The only disadvantage, is that they don’t support VisualVoiceMail, because that’s a T-Mo exclusive.
So, if you’re looking for an affordable service with “lots” of Data look for Congstar, otherwise all the others are going to fuck you hard, and at the end you’re not even going to get a kiss.
The logic of the Germans is as good as none. Because you can get a 10 GB Data only service for an iPad or a Stick for about 30 euros with Tethering option. Downside is it’s with Vodafone, so no LTE on iPad.
They restrict the use of broadband as if it were something new, and the price is set in Gold. And they argue about the political correctness and the right of using the word Nigger.
It seems like Hitler really fucked this people up!
Try looking for a translation of Common Sense to german. Translate the words one by one.
Because Translators already find a “common” used expresion that is sort of what they think it is.
I just want to tell you a story about a land that believes to be a Great Power. I mean don’t get me wrong, the numbers are one thing, but when you live here, you realize that everything you’ve been told and what you always believed is just a big ass LIE! Yeah that’s right, this is a country where you need a paper for everything, the bureaucratic system here is as complicated as it gets, engineered to be as complex and unefficent that it can hardly be changed. There are some Government Agencies that do nothing and cost millions every year, and i mean they literally do NOTHING. But it’s too long to explain, i leave that for another post. What really pisses me off, is that this country still works on the Paper/Stamp era. It doesn’t matter if you want to do easy stuff as cancel your Cable or change your insurance company, you’ll need a paper with a stamp for that. You looking for a job? If you have enough papers with stamps, you’re good to go! Do these people know of some machines invented by the devil or some witches called computers? Ever heard of e-mail? phone? They try to sell some funny idea of being green, and some stuff like that, but actually they do all the opposite. I guess this guy they had in the 30′s and 40′s as President really messed them up! It’s really easy to be efficient and make things easier for people, with the government area, well, it’s not the only country that works so, but in the private sector? Ever heard of customer service? I guess they haven’t. But what can you expect from a county that really isn’t a country but a LLC. That’s right, i’m talking about this piece of land that works as a LLC has it’s Register and everything. I’m talking about the Federal Republic of Germany LLC or Bundesrepublik Deutschland GmbH.
it will continue…
